Italian Alder - Alnus cordata is a fast-growing, medium-sized tree that belongs to the Betulaceae family. It is native to Corsica and southern Italy, but has been introduced to other parts of Europe and the world.
The Italian Alder has shiny, heart-shaped leaves, yellow male catkins and woody, cone-like female catkins. It can grow in most soils except heavy clay, and can improve soil fertility by fixing nitrogen. It is often used for reclamation of hostile sites, landscape planting, windbreaks and bonsai.
The current height of our Italian Alder is 20-40cm and can be planted year round.
